So I have a lot of pictures on my digital camera of my friends and of Lexington. It snowed the other day, and the campus is gorgeous in snow, so I have several pictures of that -- plus my friends and I went to another Rocky Horror showing last week, and took a lot of pictures of each other in our lingerie.

Problem: I lost the case for my camera on Rocky Horror night, and the cord was in the case. So, no connection to the computer = no pictures.

That's so sad.

So, I pretty much love my detective fiction class.

We read The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett, and our professor, Dr Fizdale, was trying to get us to say what happened with the curtain closed on a chapter as Sam Spade is stroking Brigid O'Shaughnessy's back and the next chapter began with the next morning. The obvious answer is sex. However, no one wanted to say it.

So Fizdale stares at us expectantly for a while, and then Dalton says, "Being promiscuous?"

Fizdale laughs, and says "Promiscuous? Oh I haven't heard that word in years. What were they, 'promiscuously fornicating?' Oh come on, let's be frank here. They were fucking like bunnies."

I love my college sometimes.

I'm not sure if I made the right decision getting another one of these journals. I don't get much of a chance to post, and, when I do, I don't have anything interesting to say. Um....

I leg pressed 145 lbs today.

That is all. No, really. That's all.

I realized just the other day that I miss writing in blogs and online journals. I miss having a random thought in my head and typing it up with no explanation, only to receive some of the most interesting comments imaginable. I miss being able to type up an anonymous rant and post it without anyone knowing to whom it was aimed. I miss telling the world about my boyfriends and my exploits, my loves and my losses, my life in general.

Why, you may ask, could I not do this before? Simply because I didn't want to put them in the journal that I had. I've gone through four livejournals alone, and I glanced through them all today. The first I signed up for in eighth grade; the second, freshman year of high school; the next, sophomore year; and, finally, the summer before senior year. Needless to say, as I break into the second semester of my first year at an incredibly academic college, I've changed quite a bit. Even my last journal seemed plagued with childish fantasies and petty memories which faded what feels like an eternity ago. I didn't feel like that person anymore.

This journal I am designing to last my four years of college; hence the title, HEYVAMPIRE. I attend a college named Transylvania University -- the pun should be self-explanatory. I even signed up for a facebook group with the catchy title, "Hell Yes I Go to the Vampire School!"

So, hey... vampire. What now?

My name is Shannon. I am eighteen. I love writing, and blogging. I have a history of being involved with (and thus a ridiculous amount of knowledge concerning): web design, graphic design, metal music, internet culture, message boards (designing, running, posting, etc), livejournal layouts, etc. Currently I'm an uber academic and self proclaimed nerd working on a degree in English and Classics in Lexington, KY. And, most of all, God forbid, I like myself.

This will hopefully be a journal for well-thought reflections and well-constructed arguments, as well as a few random conclusions to see what comments they may receive. For now, however, as I have a good episode of Doctor Who (2x11 Fear Her) and some political science homework awaiting, I now say, "Vale."
